Hand drawn from oysters that she ate in London while working on a project based on the history of NYC.
Oysters played a major role in the history in NYC from the Lenape Native Americans who lived and used them for food, plaster, tools and burial grounds, to the great oyster trade era in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
Oysters were so abundant they were using the shells to pave the streets.
